Law Office of Carolyn B. LeBlanc, PLLC
Important Information For Clients
Please read the information below carefully:

1. Please have an email, and please make sure it is secure: Email is a very important part of efficient communication with this office. Unless you request otherwise, documentation will provided to you electronically only. Email is generally more effective because a) we do not miss each other's calls during the day(please request a call by email, and a time you are free to recieve a return call), b) drafts of pleadings and communications will be sent to you to review prior to sending/filing, and c) pleadings and communications received from the Court and opposing counsel will be promptly scanned and sent to you electronically. This system is far more efficient than mail, and will cut down on copy and postage expenses. However, IT IS CRITICAL THAT YOU HAVE A SECURE EMAIL, that can not be accessed by anyone else. You must be sure that no one has your password, or the ability to place a tracking device on the comuter you use to access your emails from this office. If you can not sure this is the case, then we will need to use the phone and the US postal system.

2. Please review everything you are provided , and produce what you are requested to produce:  During the course of your case, you will be asked to provide documents that are important to your case. You will also be asked to review most communications and pleadings before they are sent. It is critical that you review everything you receive, and provide any feedback that is requested. This ensures that your case proceeds efficiently, and that your claims are supported.

3. Please remember that all custody cases require focus on the best interests of the children:  Since the court will consider what is in the best interests of the children,
including which parent is likely to foster a good relationship with the other parent, it is important that you are positive in your dealings with your children's other parent. If you say negative things about the other parent, it is harmful to the children. Therefore, you not only support your child, but your custody case, when you are positive about the other parent. This is sometimes hard to do, and the other parent may not return the courtesy, but the importance of this can not be stressly strongly enough.

4. You may need to retain other professionals to assist you: In many cases, there are specialized issues that will need the attention of professionals. This may include business appraisers, mental health professionals, accountants, tax professionals, real estate professionals, and other persons who have special knowledge of issues in your case. Many, if not most, people can benefit from seeing a counselor. Especially in the case of divorce, this process may be very emotionally difficult. It helps in most cases to have a good therapist to talk to.

You will receive other important information in the course of representation.
