All services are provided on an hourly basis, whether you choose to have one or more consultations, or full representation. The hourly cost is $300.00. Please call, or send an email to Carolyn@familyattorneyaz.com, with the days and times that work best for you, and we will respond promptly (normally within the hour) with a suggested appointment time.
1. Consultations: The primary goal of a consultation is to answer your questions.
The Maricopa County Superior Court maintains a self-service center, and it is often productive for those who choose to represent themselves, to download the applicable forms prior to the consultation. Some types of cases will not have applicable forms, but there are forms for divorce (dissolution of marriage), paternity, and modifications of child support and custody. http://www.superiorcourt.maricopa.gov/SuperiorCourt/Self-ServiceCenter/index.asp
You will still be solely responsible for all aspects of your case, as the consultation is informational only. If you have filled out your forms, and wish to proceed without hiring an attorney, you should bring your forms so they can be reviewed during your consultation.
Please note that we can not provide follow up, or additional information, without an additional consultation.
2. Representation: If you wish to retain counsel after the consultation, the firm can assume your representation.
If that is your choice, we will produce an outline for the case, and construct a list of documents that we will need to effectively pursue your goals. We will outline the strengths and weaknesses, from your perspective, of the relevant issues. We will then attempt to resolve the case without a hearing or trial, by communicating with opposing counsel, and usually by attending one of the methods of dispute resolution (mediation, settlement conference). If we are unable to effectively resolve the issues after that time, a hearing or trial will likely be necessary.
